With a repertoire that runs from Cole Porter to Coldplay, singer and classically trained pianist John Jones has been entertaining crowds in the Midwest full-time since 2004. Whether augmented with the full arrangements of his 150+ self-produced backing tracks or simply playing and singing, his expressive vocals and dynamic piano work have led people to a few common opinions, expressed to John in countless conversations, emails, and social media posts:
"John Jones is full of passion for what he does. It's hard to take your eyes off the energy of his performances. I've never seen so many people dancing in a piano bar."
The Chicago Hyatt Regency, Horseshoe Casino, Gentry Cabaret, Sluggers, America's Bar, Big Shot Piano Bar, and 3160 are just some of the venues John has performed at regularly in Chicago. He's also performed on a total of seven voyages for the Norwegian Epic cruise line, entertaining crowds from Spain, Italy, Mexico, and the Virgin Islands. Corporate contracts have brought him to Grand Piano Bistro in Des Moines, Iowa and the Cleveland Browns Stadium for special appearances.
In addition to his live performance work, John is an internationally-distributed songwriter. R&B/jazz vocalist Maysa Leak (of the British funk group Incognito) has recorded two of his songs for solo projects: "Honeybee" was featured on her 2010 album "A Woman in Love," and the ballad "Everything" appeared on her 2003 release "Out of the Blue." He's also released three independent albums of original songs on iTunes and the internet: "Homegrown," "Shine Right Where You Are," and "Everything I Have."
Whatever type of room you're trying to fill, John's repertoire and showmanship is the stuff that makes crowds stick around longer than they intended. You can always tell when someone loves their work...when someone feels every note and word of what they're performing. That's John Jones.
